Technology Job Aid

Year: 2021

Performance support and job aids are often a key part of a learning solution, supporting the learner post-course as a natural part of their work-flow - help easily available precisely at their time of need.

I designed and developed a comprehensive Technology Job Aid as a resource for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT staff to access at any time, when they need a quick refresher on how to perform a task covered in assistive technology courses I designed.

The job aid contains step-by-step “how to” guides and resources that are connected to six elearning courses, with PDFs and videos embedded for further support.

It is fully responsive as staff who I interviewed expressed a need to access job support on the go. Easy access was also a priority - Guide Dogs staff can access the Technology Job Aid by adding a bookmark on their mobile or desktop browser, via the LMS, via Microsoft Teams and via direct links in courses.

The plan is to keep this job aid regularly updated at the same link, as well as adding information for new courses as they are developed.

Feedback has been very positive:

  • “I want to begin by congratulating you and the team for creating such a valuable resource. As an O&M Specialist on the go with such varied field work, it’s valuable having a resource to easily and quickly refer to for session prep and on the spot troubleshooting with clients. With various technology options, and numerous features for each, it’s so useful having this information at your fingertips.”

  • “It is great that this resource has been developed now. This will really help us upskill ourselves - thanks!!”
